CHRISTUS Schumpert Critical Care Air Transport

CHRISTUS Schumpert’s King Air 100 twin-engine turbo-prop air ambulance provides safe, expert medical transport, relocation and evacuation for emergency and non-emergency pediatric and adult patients.

  • Service is available within a 1,000 mile radius of Shreveport, Louisiana.
  • The King Air 100 has a 250mph cruising speed

Availability

The Air Ambulance dispatch Center is available 24/7. Medical flights are dispatched between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. Accommodations may be made for trips outside the normal flight hours.

Arrangements

  • The CHRISTUS Schumpert Flight Coordinator will help make the transport arrangements with the sending and receiving facilities once a medical acceptance has been granted.
  • Bedside-to-bedside service available

Services

  • Hospital-to-hospital pediatric and adult emergency transports to regional centers of excellence
  • Three-point transfers
  • Non-emergency transports to regional centers or trips home
  • Neonatal to Regional Level III NICU
  • Complex patients needing specialized care or procedures outside local expertise (i.e. AAA, high-risk OB, transplants)

Air Ambulance Crew

  • 1 or 2 pilots (depending on time of day and length of flight)
  • Experienced flight nurses
  • Experienced flight paramedics
  • Respiratory therapists if appropriate for patient’s condition
  • Neonatal trained crews for NICU transports
  • ACLS certified, PALS, ENPC, NRP

Equipment

  • Two Lifeport self-contained stretcher systems including suction and oxygen
  • Isolette for neonates
  • Advanced life support equipment
  • Alternative power and lighting source
  • EMS communications
  • Life Pak 12 cardiac defibrillator and pacer
  • LTV 1200 ventilator
  • Multi-channel IV pumps
  • Pulse oximetry and laser capnogrophy
  • Emergency cardiac drugs

Cost

  • The cost will be on a per mile basis
  • Flight coordinator will provide price quote
