At CHRISTUS Schumpert, we make retirement a time of restoration and renewal. Through our Senior Care Center at CHRISTUS Schumpert-Bossier and our Behavioral Medicine Program at CHRISTUS Schumpert-St. Mary Place, we help older adults and their families understand and learn to cope with mental, emotional or behavioral problems related to the aging process.
There are definite signs that indicate a mental, emotional or behavioral problem. Our treatment team will provide a free assessment of these problems, including:
- Depression or extreme sadness.
- Marked personality changes.
- Numerous unexplained physical ailments.
- Changes in eating and sleeping patterns.
- Confused thinking or trouble concentrating.
- Excessive fears, anxieties or suspiciousness.
- Withdrawal from family, friends and others.
- Hallucinations or hearing voices.
- Abuse of alcohol or medications.
- A growing inability to cope with daily living.
Our goal is to maintain and enhance the person's self-respect during every phase of treatment. We place emphasis on restoring the person's optimal level of functioning and improving his or her quality of life.
