CHRISTUS Schumpert Home Care Services
House calls haven't slipped out of the medical dictionary. They have been revived by a growing national trend, which CHRISTUS Schumpert recognized when it opened Home Care Services.
From caring for at-risk babies and mothers, to identifying complications of chronic heart failure, the Home Care Services program helps many groups in our community. CHRISTUS Home Care proudly serving the following parishes:

Concerned about yourself or a loved one?
The CHRISTUS Schumpert Home Care Services program offers nursing care, physical therapy, medical social workers, speech therapy and occupational therapy.
In addition to rehabilitation therapies for post-stroke cases and other debilitating illnesses, patient care technicians provide personal care services with support and assistance to caregivers who can help keep the patient in the home setting.

CHRISTUS HomeCare offers services to clients in the home following illness or injury. This can benefit patients in many ways:
- Promotes recovery time from injuries, surgeries, or other health problems with the attention of a specialized home care team.
- Supports learning about diseases such as diabetes or the use of medical equipment, all within the comfort of a familiar home environment.
- Convenience – Patients have regularly scheduled visits without leaving home.
- Privacy – Patients are in their homes rather than an office or exam room.
- Comfort – Patients are in a familiar and safe place.
- Educational classes.
- Cost effectiveness – Home health care usually is less expensive compared with a long-term hospital or nursing home stay.
Patients may need short-term care following an injury or surgery or may need management of a chronic disease such as diabetes. Most services are covered by Medicare, Medicaid or private insurance. Private pay nursing is available for in home or in hospital care. Services include:
- Skilled nursing
- Rehabilitation services – physical, speech and occupational therapies
- Home health aide services
- Medical social work services
- Specialized wound care services
- IV therapy
- Cardio-respiratory care
- Pediatric home health care
- Private duty nursing care
- Telemonitoring services
- Personal care such as help grooming, eating, toileting, dressing, moving
- Housekeeping help including errands and meal preparation
- Cardiac, respiratory, and/or neurological care for pediatric patients
- Nutrition education

- Caregiver training
- LifeLine: emergency personal response and support service
